Who was Rosalene M. Moore

“FIGHTERS” was created by Rosalene Moore’s son, Wallace Moore in memory of her. Rosalene was born March 12th, 1946. She was the daughter of Raymond and Louis Boone Moody. She was raised in Northampton County and attended Northampton County public Schools and during that time she met her future husband, Leroy Moore. Leroy and Rosalene were married and raised four children together. Rosalene was a career woman until she retired. After retiring from Georgia Pacific in Emporia Virginia, Rosalene devoted her life to her family and serving Christ. She was raised under ministry of Cool Spring Baptist Church, as the wife of a Trustee at her church, she was very proud to stand by her husband and support him throughout his duties. Rosalene remained strong with her faith until her death. She was a member of several committees at her church also and was a member of the NAACP and Black Caucus and served on the Board of Electrons for many years. She served as a strong advocate in her community also, always encouraging someone. In the year of 2016, Rosalene was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. After learning this devastating news, that still didn’t deteriorate Rosalene’s Faith and Strength. She then began to fight back with her chosen treatment and Prayer with the help of her entire family. After numerous appointments and days of treatment, Rosalene went in remission. After one year of remission the cancer returned very aggressive on her liver. After doing research of their own the doctors decided that it was nothing else they could do for her. Rosalene, her husband and kids were in disbelief and tears. Wallace then talked to his mother and told her that he would continue to FIGHT for her when she couldn’t FIGHT anymore. And that’s how Rosalene Moore Cancer Awareness Foundation got the name”FIGHTERS”. On December 20th, 2018, at 12 noon Rosalene M. Moore passed away at home peacefully on HOSPICE with her family and loved ones around her.
